How This day was started? Who was the person who started Valentines's day. What is The Story of Valentine's Day? Why this is celebrated on 14th February ?

HISTORY OF VALENTINE'S DAY

Valentine's Day, or St Valentine's Day, is celebrated every year on 14 February.
It's the day when people show their affection for another person or people by sending cards, flowers or chocolates with messages of love. Valentine's Day is a very old tradition, thought to have originated from a Roman festival. The Romans had a festival called Lupercalia in the middle of February, officially the start of their springtime. It's thought that as part of the celebrations, boys drew names of girls from a box. They'd be boyfriend and girlfriend during the festival and sometimes they'd get married. Later on, the church wanted to turn this festival into a Christian celebration and decided to use it to remember St Valentine too. Gradually, St Valentine's name started to be used by people to express their feelings to those they loved.

Story Behind Valentine's Day

Valentine's Day Story

The History of Valentine’s Day comes from the third century.
There was a cruel emperor named  Claudius II who was against love and marriages because he had a thinking that if all young mens will get married they might not do anything else. In his rule he banned marriages and if anyone  tries to go against his rule they will be imprisoned. Some peoples went against his cruel rule and sadly they all got murdered. In the fear of getting killed lovers started hiding their feelings.
But then there was another brave person named 'Valentinus'. For whom his principles and beliefs were on first priority. He didn’t cared of being killed and tried to help a loved one and for this reason he got imprisoned.

Valentinus was great person with full of knowledge and one day the daughter of Jailor being brought to Valentinus for lessons. Her name was Julia. Julia had lack of vision since her childhood but Valentinus made her realise the beauty of this world. He had her see the world from his own heart. Day was passing smoothly. These two people were coming closer. Not exactly the love but there was something which was making them affectionate to each other. One day Julia Asked Valentinus, do god really fulfil our wishes??

He said, whatever god gives us that is what we actually deserve.
She Said, I wish I could see the beauty of this world, everything you told me about.
He Said, don’t worry dear, one day this will also happen..
She grasped his hand and smiled.

To the next moment a light came from the window and she got the ability to see and both were very much happy. But when the cruel king got to know about the love of Valentinus and Julia, he ordered to kill Valentinus. One eve from his death, he wrote a letter for Julia. He wrote to be happy always and believe in god, no matter what happens. At last he wrote, from your valentine. This is the actual reason why do people celebrate this event so affectionately.
